Preseason Update #3
EBYA Soccer News
EBYA Soccer Families:

Our preseason is just flying by! All teams are now setup and your coach will reach out within a few days if you haven't already been contacted. Tomorrow - game schedules will be posted. Keep an eye on your Inbox!

Practices start the week of April 12 with first games on Saturday April 17.

We continued the launch of ourPositive Coaching Alliance(PCA) program this past Tuesday with parents from all age groups in attendance for the workshop. The workshop included "The truth about sports parents..." video from theI Love To Watch You Playwebsite. Give it a watch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2LR4c3JsmU

**For any coaches who were unable to attend the PCA Coach Workshop - please save the date for this upcoming Thursday, April 8 @ 8pm-8:45pm for a condensed presentation.

We have a great addition to our early season schedule with the addition of Friday Night Goalkeeper Training for Middle School and High School division players - scheduled for April 9, 16, and 23. See details later in this email blast & sign up here:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d48afa823a46-ebya16

Reminder - current restrictions require masks to be worn at all times. This contrasts with restrictions in the Fall where players & officials could remove masks during active play. If restrictions change prior to our season's start in mid-April or during our season, we will follow with an update. Our complete Covid-19 restriction guide will be updated & published prior to our season's official start of practices on April 12. The high-level season calendar may be found below.

Includedbelow are useful notes as we prepare to setup our divisions and assign players to teams. Also found below are notes about wait list, highlights of our league sponsors, and the field map. Please note that our most common questions & answers may be found in the FAQs on ourSoccer Parents page.
Goalkeeper Training

New for 2021, EBYA is pleased to offer a free goalie clinic for all players registered in the Middle School and High School divisions. Whether you are an experienced goalkeeper and are looking for some extra tips or are just curious and want to learn the basics, this all levels 3-week session is for you.

Hosted by our HS Division Commissioner and coach Jeff Seibert, sessions will be held Friday April 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 6-7pm. Though it isn’t mandatory to attend all 3 sessions, the curriculum will build from week to week.

Topics will include: the mental side of the game, angles and positioning, skills and techniques, and distribution.

Sessions will be held at Community Park on Field 3 and each player is required to bring their own ball to participate.

Spots are limited so you must register via our SignUp Genius here:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d48afa823a46-ebya16

Communications and Expectations

* Get the app! We encourage all coaches and families to use theDick's Team Manager appfor communication and scheduling
* Key dates are on ourSoccer Website. Over the next week, we will develop our division layouts based upon the number of players registered. With sufficient volunteers, we will be assigning players to teams during the weeks of March 15 and 22.If volunteers are lacking, team assignments will be delayed.
* Team assignments and schedules will be announced via automatic emails from our website
* Each team will have a weeknight practice at 6PM. Games are played on Saturdays with games beginning as early as 8AM and typically no games starting later than 3:30 PM. Practice start the week of April 12. First game day is Saturday, April 17.
* We also reserve Sundays for make-up games at the originally scheduled game time
* Look for weekly email blasts to the Soccer league on Fridays with updates and info

Covid-19 Adjustments

Covid-19 Adjustments - Please be aware of the Covid-19 requirements for players, coaches, and spectators. No exceptions.
Each player, coach and referee will receive a temperature check using a non-contact thermometer. The check also requires review of Covid-19 symptoms and if a temperature higher than 100.4 is recorded or any symptoms are present - participation will not be permitted that day.
A player who passes the check-in process can then join the action on the field.
As of today - April 2, 2021 - Face masks are required for all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators at all times. Based upon Government & Health Department Guidance, the exact mask requirement may change by the time our season opens - for example in our Fall season, players & officials were not required to wear masks during active play. As of today however, everyone in attendance at the park for EBYA Soccer practices & games should expect to wear a face mask the entire time.
Players who test positive at any point during the season must report the positive result to EBYA. Players must test negative or complete their quarantine in order to return.

This season will require league-wide attention to social distancing, mask requirements, and hygiene so that we can comply with East Brandywine township requirements at the park. As such, our league will need more volunteers. In addition to any additional coaching needs, you will also likely see requests for additional Temperature Screening Volunteers - to screen for temperature and Covid-19 symptoms for players, coaches and referees prior to practices & games.

Prepare for the Season

* All players must wear shin guards - you can often get them as part of a combo pack including cleats and a soccer ball at your local sports retailer. Helpful note - Socks are worn OVER your player's shin guards.
* Two highlighted rules within ourFAQs- earrings must be removedfor practices and games, and there is no heading the ball in practices or games, at any age level
* Sunday Make-up games - We only have Sundays available to makeup rain-outs - rained-out games will be rescheduled on a future Sunday at their originally scheduled game time.
* We do not make-up games if cancelled due to snow

Hey Coaches!

* We provide practice plans viaYouthSoccer101.comto simplify your coaching experience. This season the program will also include an online video training series.
* We will offer several coaching clinics targeted to our younger divisions. Keep an eye out for the scheduling announcements
* All coaches must submit a background check. Details are on ourSafety Info page
** If you have any questions about coaching or volunteering, please email us:[email protected]

Wait Lists

* Although we continue to activate as many wait-listed players as possible, we do not expect to have spots open up for all of the kids on our wait list this season due to our league's limited capacity
* We encourage all wait listed kids 12 and under to participate in our EBYA Spring Baseball and Softball leagues.
* We have also partnered with DARC to coordinate sessions of theirSoccer Shotsprogram to be hosted at Community Park this Spring
* We also recommend theFC DELCO Rec Select programfor players born between 2009 and 2015

EBYA Soccer
Welcome!
EBYA Soccer News
Welcome to our EBYA Spring Soccer season!

With the weather warming up and our fields thawing out- weare ready to play soccer! We also wanted to extend a special thanks to all of the families who stuck with us and supported EBYA following the cancellation of our Spring 2020 season! And we welcome all of the new families who are participating in EBYA Soccer for the first time - thank you for joining our soccer community.

After hosting successful Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 soccer seasons, we are once again prepared to run our league with the necessary modifications - a slightly shorter season, fewer teams, and adjustments for Covid-19, which includes wearing a face mask by default.

Everything is ready to go with our season. Please look for an introductory communication from your child's division commissioner this weekend with high-level information and a request to fill any available volunteer roles!

***New this season, we are implementing the Positive Coach Alliance program which includes meetings for all coaches and families. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Links will be sent out closer to the events:

Tue Mar 23 - Positive Coach Alliance - Double-Goal Coach Zoom Meeting - 7:30pm to 9:00pm -**Mandatory for all coaches

Tue Mar 30 - Positive Coach Alliance - Second Goal Parent Zoom Workshop - 7:30pm to 9:00pm

And a big thank you to all of our volunteers! We are an all-volunteer league and your commitment makes our league possible.

Once again, we are all excited to get out on the fields and play soccer!

We have some useful notes below as we prepare to setup our divisions and assign players to teams. Please note that our most common questions & answers may be found in the FAQs on ourSoccer Parents page.
Communications and Expectations

* Get the app! We encourage all coaches and families to use theDick's Team Manager appfor communication and scheduling
* Your child's division commissioner will send an introductory email within a few days
* We also reserve Sundays for make-up games at the originally scheduled game time
* Look for weekly email blasts to the Soccer league on Friday afternoons with updates and info

As of today - March 6, 2021 - Face masks are required for all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators at all times.

Wait Lists

* Although we've activated as many wait-listed players as possible, we do not expect to have spots open up for all of the kids on our wait list this season due to our league's limited capacity
* We encourage all wait listed kids 12 and under to participate in our EBYA Spring Baseball and Softball leagues.
* We have also partnered with DARC to coordinate sessions of theirSoccer Shotsprogram to be hosted at Community Park this Spring

EBYA Soccer
League Update
EBYA Soccer News
Hello EBYA Soccer Families:

My name is Mike Mize and I am the committee chair for our EBYA Soccer committee. If you had recently signed up and missed our original "Welcome" email - you may find it on ourLeague Updates page. I am hopeful that this email lands in your Inbox and you have a few minutes to review it after receiving many Back to School emails!

We are quickly working through team building and some teams will even hit the fields this week for our Unofficial Practice Week (fields will not be lined for unofficial practices). All teams will be announced by this upcoming Friday, September 4th. Official practices begin the week of Labor Day - Monday, September 7th. Teams that normally practice on Mondays are encouraged to shift their first practice to Friday, September 11th due to the Labor Day holiday.

The game schedule will be published by Saturday, Sep 5th.First games will be on Saturday, September 12th.

Here are the recent updates we need you to review:
1.Please click here to review our Covid-19 Adjustments and League Guidelines document. It has important info for everyone from players & coaches to spectators, volunteers and referees.
CliffsNotes Version: Wear a mask and stay home if you are sick

2. We will have a playoff series for the older divisions - 2nd/3rd grade divisions and older. The last two Saturdays of the season will be playoffs! All younger players receive a participation medal and the top teams in the playoffs will be rewarded with medals.

3. OurField Mapis published at the end of this email. It's always a good idea to review the Field Map before arriving at the park. Please note that only Game Day fields will be formally lined this season.

4. We are able to build a 4th High School COED team if we have 13 more kids signup this weekend. We also have (4) spots remaining in our Middle School Girls divisions. Please spread the word!

5. Community Park bathroom facilities will remain closed this Fall. Port-a-potties are available at the park. Please plan according.

And a big thank you to all of our volunteers! We emphasized that we could only offer a Fall Soccer season with the support and cooperation of our EBYA Soccer Families. And you responded - I am proud to report that we have 250 volunteers this season!

We are all excited to get out on the fields and play soccer!

We have some useful general notes below for your review.
Communications and Expectations

* Get the app! We encourage all coaches and families to use theDick's Team Manager appfor communication and scheduling
* Your child's division commissioner will send an introductory email within a few days
* Key dates are on ourSoccer Website. Over the next week, we will develop our division layouts based upon the number of players registered. With sufficient volunteers, we will be assigning players to teams during the weeks of August 24th and 31st.If volunteers are lacking, team assignments will be delayed.
* Team assignments and schedules will be announced via automatic emails from our website
* Each team will have a weeknight practice at 6PM. Games are played on Saturdays with games beginning as early as 8AM and typically no games starting later than 3:30 PM. Practice start the week of September 7th. First game day is Saturday, September 12th.

Covid-19 Adjustments

Covid-19 Adjustments - Please be aware of the Covid-19 requirements for players, coaches, and spectators. No exceptions.
Please review our Covid-19 Adjustments and League Guidelines document here -2020 ebya fall soccer - covid-19 adjustments and league guidelines - rev1.0.pdf
Each player, coach and referee will receive a temperature check using a non-contact thermometer, and that temperature will be recorded should it be required for contact tracing. The check also requires review of Covid-19 symptoms and if any symptoms are present - participation will not be permitted that day.
Players should wait in their cars if they see more than 10 people in line for the temperature check-in process.
If a player records a temperature of 100.4 or greater, that player will be sent home, and it is recommended that they see a physician.
A player who passes the check-in process can then join the action on the field.
Masks are required for all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators at all times, with ONE EXCEPTION – players will not be required to wear masks while on the field of play. Players must wear a mask on the sidelines while not in active play.
Players who test positive at any point during the season must report the positive result to EBYA. Players must test negative twice - 24 hours between tests - after their 2 week quarantine, and once symptom-free, in order to return.
No throw-ins this Fall - only kick-ins.

This season will require league-wide attention to social distancing and hygiene so that we can comply with East Brandywine township requirements at the park. As such, our league will need many more volunteers -we are asking each family to choose at least one volunteer role for each child registered for our Fall Soccer season. New roles includeTeam Manager- to ensure social distancing and hygiene compliance at practices and games by observing and helping coaches and players follow the guidelines, andTemperature Screening Volunteers- to screen for temperature and Covid-19 symptoms for players, coaches and referees prior to practices & games. These volunteers will be critical to managing on-the-field adjustments for Covid-19. If divisions have insufficient volunteers for the Team Manager role - we will not be able to run those divisions this Fall.

More details about the very important Team Manager volunteer role this season -

Each team needs (1) Team Manager. Team Managers will be responsible for enforcing Covid-19 policies and restrictions at practices and games. Team Managers will verify that players & coaches are wearing masks and observing social distancing while on the sidelines (coaches must wear a mask at all times), emphasize "no Hugs, no High Fives, and no Fist Bumps," and the use of hand sanitizer before & after activities. Team Managers will complete a free Covid-19 Youth Sports online training session. Team Managers will provide social distancing & hygiene reminders to participants.

EBYA Soccer
Welcome!
EBYA Soccer News
Welcome to our EBYA Fall Soccer season!

My name is Mike Mize and I am the committee chair for our EBYA Soccer committee. After an unexpectedly long off-season, we are ready to play soccer!

I am excited to announce that we have our Dream Team of volunteer commissioners returning. Whether or not they have a child participating in the league, this group of volunteers maintains a year-round commitment to the program with the goal of a great experience for all participants and their families. And we welcome our newest commissioner, JP, who brings a wealth of soccer and referee experience - many of you know JP from his recent seasons refereeing the GIRLS 2 division.

It's true that our league will look a little bit different this season - a shorter season, fewer teams, and adjustments for Covid-19, which includes wearing a mask by default. Players do not need to wear a mask when actively engaged in practices and games, but will need to wear a mask when on the sideline. Coaches must wear a mask at all times and we expect spectators to wear masks in all situations where social distancing is not possible.

We learned valuable lessons by hosting a small Summer pickup league for High School players and we look forward to operating a safe and fun Fall league with those lessons in mind.

Everything is ready to go with our season - our greatest immediate need is Team Manager Volunteers - volunteers who ensure that social distancing and hygiene guidelines are followed by players & coaches on their child's team. As teams are formed in the next few weeks - if your team does not have a Team Manager Volunteer, please look for a communication from your child's division commissioner as a Team Manager will be required prior to your team's first practice & game.

And a big thank you to all of our volunteers! We are an all-volunteer league and your commitment makes our league possible.

Speaking of volunteers - all volunteers with the following rolesneed to complete a brief, free online Covid-19 training course:
Coaches, Temperature Screeners, and Team Managers

Get a head start! Sign up for free and complete the course today:
https://nfhslearn.com/courses/covid-19-for-coaches-and-administrators

We are all excited to get out on the fields and play soccer!

* We will offer several free coaching clinics targeted to our younger divisions. Keep an eye out for the scheduling announcements
* All coaches must submit a background check. Details are on ourSafety Info page
** If you have any questions about coaching or volunteering, please email us:[email protected]

Wait Lists

* We do not expect to have spots open up for all of the kids on our wait list this season due to our league's limited capacity
* We will encourage all wait listed kids 12 and under to participate in our EBYA Fall Baseball and Softball leagues. Look for a communication regarding Fall Ball this upcoming week
* Please note that we will form up to 2 additional teams in the High School COED division if we have enough players sign-up for the wait list

Division Formats and Tentative Game Schedule Info

* Game times are staggered with sufficient time between games on each field to assist with parking as well as ingress and egress
